Bridgestone is a Japanese company that got their start in creating socks. Founder Shojiro Ishibashi realized the future scope of automobiles, and since no one else was producing tires in Japan at the time, had one of his sock divisions create the first Bridgestone tire in 1930. During the WW2, the company was forced to produce tires for the war effort, and when the war ended Bridgestone changed from making wartime aircraft supplies to bicycles. In 1988, Bridgestone acquired the Firestone Rubber Company. For a number of years, Gary’s Automotive has been Ottawa’s largest volume retailer of Bridgestone and Firestone tires.
Bridgestone Tires – Models
Bridgestone has a long history of exceptional performance and racing prowess. Bridgestone’s consumer tires build on this, and offer some of the best performance in any situation.
Turanza/Ecopia – Bridgestone’s passenger lineup features a wide array of tires. The Turanza represents a straight forward driving experience, decreased rolling resistance, better fuel savings, and a long tread life. The Ecopia takes this a step further and offers different tread patterns and composites to further reduce rolling resistance, offering an even greater savings on gas mileage.
Potenza – Bridgestone’s high performance line up is the Potenza, and what a lineup it is. The Potenza lineup regularly tops review lists for best track and street performance. While they may not offer much in the way of fuel economy, there’s no denying these proven tires when looking for some serious racing performance. There’s a reason the Bridgestone name can be seen at racetracks around the world.
Dueler – Bridgestone’s chunkier performance tires can be found in the Dueler lineup. These performance SUV and crossover tires feature a surprisingly quiet ride, and a very good treadlife. Dueler models are available with Bridgestones eco-focus, meaning you’ll save more on gas over the life of the tire. Dueler Tires are great in both wet or dry conditions, and all-season options are available.
Dueler – Bridgestone offers their larger tires all under the same name, Dueler. While Bridgestone’s focus is definitely on the road and track, Dueler options do exist that are more than capable for off-roading. While Bridgestone’s tires aren’t the cheapest tires around, they certainly are worth the price. Your tires are the only part of your vehicle that comes in contact with the road, so this is no area to try and save a few bucks.
Blizzak – Bridgestone Blizzak tires need no introduction. They are widely known as top performers when it comes to winter tires. Bridgestone currently doesn’t produce a studded version of the Blizzak, but with performance like this there isn’t much need. When looking for a quality winter tire, you can count on the unbeatable grip and performance of the Bridgestone Blizzak to deliver in any condition.
